It’s been in gestation pretty much since the first film took over the world, and now, Disney has finally announced a release date for the eagerly-awaited sequel. Frozen 2 – which is its title, as things stand – will be in cinemas on November 27th 2019. That’s just shy of six years since the release of the first movie.
No further details have been announced thus far, but we will, of course, keep you posted.
From March 2016
Things have been quiet on the Frozen 2 front since the project was first confirmed last March. We know that directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck are returning for the new film, and that Lee has been working on the screenplay (as well as the book for the upcoming Frozen stage musical).
However, we do now have an update, courtesy of the voice of Anna, Kristen Bell.
Chatting to Collider ahead of the release of her new film, The Boss, Bell was asked if she’d started recording her Frozen 2 lines yet. “Not yet”, he said. “We’re just about to. They’ve just written it and they’re still doing tweaks, but I think we should be recording this month”.
She continued, adding that “the story is great, and they exude quality. What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn’t just put something out to put it out. That’s why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one. Generally when you have a first successful movie you want to make a second one. It took them a while because they wanted to figure out what story they needed to tell and what would be important and engaging and I think they found it”.
