Prometheus heroine Noomi Rapace wasn’t initially thought to be in Alien: Covenant. But now it seems she’s back after all…
When the first details emerged from Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel (and Alien prequel), one name was conspicuously absent – Noomi Rapace. Rapace played the heroine Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus, and without spoiling things, it would have made sense if she’d returned for Alien: Covenant.
Yet when Ridley Scott was asked whether Elizabeth Shaw would come back for the sequel, the director responded with a blunt “No” last year, before adding, “We’re still casting the main roles.”
According to Deadline, however, Rapace is back in the movie after all. Their sources suggest it isn’t a cameo role, either, with Rapace on the Australian set to “shoot weeks worth of scenes”. Whether she was always intended to return and kept under wraps until now, or whether she’s been written back in isn’t clear – we’re guessing it’s the former.
Rapace rejoins Michael Fassbender and a new group of space explorers, including Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride and Billy Crudup in Covenant, which is due out next August.
