Andy Garcia and Michael K. Williams join Ghostbusters

Production on Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters is underway in Boston, with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones strapping on the proton packs as the new team of paranormal hunters. Now we know of a few more names rounding out the cast, as The Wrap reports that Andy Garcia (Ocean’s Eleven), Michael K. Williams (The Wire), Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live) and Matt Walsh (Veep) have joined the comedy reboot.

Garcia takes on the role of the New York City Mayor, a character who cropped up in both earlier Ghostbusters movies. All we know of Williams and Walsh is that they play a couple of guys called Hawkins and Rourke, respectively.

And as for Strong, there’s not even an official character name — but according to earlier reports Feig and co-writer Katie Dippold carved out a special role just for the SNL actress. All four join the previously-announced Chris Hemsworth who’s on track to play the ‘busters secretary.

Early story details suggest that the film revolves around Wiig and McCarthy’s characters, who return to the paranormal years after publishing a critically-slammed book on ghosts. Roping in another two comrades (McKinnon and Jones) they take on a new fleet of spooky invaders.

Ghostbusters opens on July 22, 2016.
