“Is it too late to change the name?”
Yes – yes, Paul Rudd – it is. We’ve long anticipated the movie; we felt for you when Edgar Wright suddenly jumped ship, and we weren’t too sure what to think when Peyton Reed (Yes Man) stepped up to the directing plate, so very late in the day.
But, as the first full trailer for Marvel’s Ant-Man is finally revealed, it seems the boy’s done good and we’re loving the mix of moody darkness with light comedic touches. Michael Douglas, as Hank Pym, is the “old” Ant-Man. His impassioned voice-over, addressed to Rudd’s con man, Scott Lang, and ending with “I need to you to be Ant-Man”, is met with a simple, deadpan “Oh”. Both actors are old-hands at getting right the balance between funny and serious, and their mentor/pupil relationship looks promising and we’re looking forward to seeing more when the film hits cinemas in July 2015.
Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll also star.
