Ant-Man And The Wasp: Michael Pena to return, filming begins early 2017

Good news! Michael Pena’s Luis will be back for the superhero sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp…

In a Marvel Cinematic Universe comfortable with pitting gods against aliens, robots against mortals, and Steve Rogers against Tony Stark, Ant-Man is a relatively small project by comparison — both creatively and financially. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hold an important place in the MCU and that we aren’t paying attention to any and all casting news…

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Pena will be returning as Luis for Ant-Man And The Wasp, the next standalone film featuring Paul Rudd’s teeny-tiny superhero, Scott Lang, and a larger (well, smaller…) role for Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne. Pena is the third member of the original film’s cast to be officially announced.

Pena will return as Luis, Lang’s friend, whose inability to tell a story without delving into totally unnecessary detail was one of the most consistently hilarious and well-executed aspects of a tonally-confused film. If you need a refresher, here are two of Pena’s best scenes in Ant-Man

It’s exciting to know that Pena will be returning for Ant-Man And The Wasp. Though Scott Lang was seamlessly integrated into Captain America: Civil War, he has his own corner of the franchise to return to — and that includes Luis.

Ant-Man And The Wasp opens on July 6th, 2018. Filming is slated to begin early next year. Peyton Reed is returning to the director’s chair, with Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, and Adam McKay penning the script.
