Director Tim Burton remains keen on making Beetlejuice 2 – but it doesn’t sound too high up the queue right now…
Things have been quiet on the Beetlejuice 2 front for a while, and given the latest update from director Tim Burton, it may be a bit more time before we hear anything again. Burton is currently putting the finishing touches to Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, and his next project may well be Disney’s live action take on Dumbo.
But there is still chatter about Beetlejuice 2, and Burton has been giving an update to Collider.
“It’s something that I’m interested in”, he admitted, but noted that there were lots of stories online about “dumping Michael Keaton for Johnny Depp and this or that, and I’ve talked to these people and they didn’t wanna hear this so they just made up a story. But the fact of it is I have talked to Michael and I have talked to Winona, I’ve talked to a few people. It’s something that I really would like to do in the right circumstances, but it’s one of those films where it has to be right”.
Burton admitted that there’s no crying need for a Beetlejuice 2, but that he would be tempted back “if the elements are right”.
Don’t hold your breath on this one, folks. It’s not as if you can say his name three times and have him turn up, is it?
