Bloodshot

Bloodshot

The duo behind this year’s badass Keanu Reeves actioner John Wick will bring their keen kinetic eye(s) to the world of comic book movies. As reported by THR, David Leitch and Chad Stahelski are on board to direct Bloodshot, an adaptation of the Valiant Entertainment title that’s set to kickstart a whole new superhero cinematic universe over at Sony. The film is the first of five announced titles that are expected to drop over the next several years, as part of a deal between the studio and the comic book publisher.

Bloodshot follows the story of a left-for-dead soldier who returns from the grave via the workings of a super shady government operation. Embedded with nanotechnology, he is transformed into a relentless killing machine who can regenerate tissue when injured. Sounds a little like Wolvie – so you can count us in.

Currently bashing out the screenplay are Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) and Eric Heisserer (2011’s The Thing) with Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service) and Valiant’s Jason Kothari on board to executive produce.

The studio’s overall plan is to release Bloodshot in 2017 and another connected Valiant title Harbinger at some unknown time after that. Both will receive sequels before the fifth movie – Harbinger Wars – will tie everything together, inspired by the 2013 comic book crossover. Valiant Entertainment’s Dinesh Shamdasani, Neal H. Moritz (The Fast and The Furious series) and Toby Jaffe (21 Jump Street) are executive producing the entire quintet.
