Daisy Moved By Harrison Ford’s speech

Daisy Ridley was moved by a sombre and poignant speech Harrison Ford delivered on the last day of filming STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

The 23-year-old British actress, who stars as heroine Rey in the Star Wars blockbuster, reveals everyone was sad when veteran franchise star Harrison, who plays Han Solo in the sci-fi saga, came to film his final scenes.

“I remember going in the day he and Adam (Driver) were doing that (fight) scene and there was a real sombreness in the air,” she recalled to Entertainment Tonight. “It was very strange and poignant.

“But the last day he made a great speech, and it was really nice because he’s really great at speeches.”

Daisy, who starred alongside Adam Driver, John Boyega, Carrie Fisher and Oscar Isaac in Episode VII of the movie series, added that Harrison enjoyed giving his thanks and sharing memories with the crew in his speech.

“He really put into words what we were all thinking,” she said of the 73-year-old. “There was a huge amount of appreciation. I think he – I don’t want to speak for him – but I think he enjoyed it maybe, not more than he thought he would, but it was so enjoyable, the whole thing.

“And I think that took people by surprise.”

The actress also admitted she found it very hard to keep details of the film a secret in the run up to its release, especially as people kept wrongly assuming her character Rey was the child of Han Solo and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher).

“We were keeping this wonderful magic alive. And it paid off!” she laughed. “The thing I found funniest is that I was the child. People were so presumptuous, like, ‘You’re Han Solo’s daughter!’ And in my head I’m like, ‘How do you know? Have you seen the movie?’ Clearly not, because I wasn’t. That was a funny one.”

Daisy is reprising her role as Rey for Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is currently in production. (EWN/WNWCMIR/MT)
