Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe found receiving his Hollywood Walk of Fame star completely overwhelming.
The British actor, best known for bringing boy wizard Harry to life on the big screen, has managed to cement his A-list status with a string of hit films since the magical movie franchise ended in 2011. His shiny new Hollywood star further proves he’s a force to be reckoned with.
“Thank you for this star. It is incredibly surreal and still slightly overwhelming and hasn’t really sunk in yet,” Daniel beamed as he received the accolade on Thursday (12Nov15), according to Britain’s The Telegraph newspaper.
“A few months ago I was walking along here with a couple of friends and was slightly in awe and slightly overwhelmed by the names I was going to be joining.”
2015 proved to be a quieter year on the movie front for Daniel, although fans are gearing up for the release of his James McAvoy collaboration Victor Frankenstein. 2016 will be mega for the 26-year-old, with three big screen outings; Imperium, Now You Seem Me 2 and Young Americans.
“Growing up in England, when you hear the word Hollywood, right after you picture the sign on the hill, you picture these stars,” he added. “It feels a very long way from when you grow up in Fulham (London) to this.”
The ceremony, held outside the TLC Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, was attended by hoards of Harry Potter fans. Director Chris Columbus, who helmed the franchise’s first two movies, was also on hand to share some warm words.
“It means an incredible amount to me that Chris Columbus is here today to come to this, a huge amount of the excitement and enthusiasm I have for this industry was instilled in me by Chris on those first two Potter films that we were shooting with the Dursleys (family in Harry Potter) at this time of year 15 or 16 years ago,” Daniel smiled.
The actor also praised his devoted Potter fans.
