Dave Bautista: Bond set was church-like

Actor Dave Bautista felt like he was attending church on the Spectre set.

The bulky former wrestler has been making a name for himself in movies, with the new Bond flick the latest on his résumé. He plays baddie Mr. Hinx opposite Daniel Craig’s James Bond, with Léa Seydoux, Christoph Waltz and Monica Bellucci also joining them.

Dave first came to acting prominence in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 and says the two franchises couldn’t be more varied.

“Completely different, it’s apples and oranges,” Dave smiled to WENN. “At Marvel everyone’s like little kids, very excited, the sets are very loud, there’s a lot going on. With Bond it’s very quiet, it’s like being in church. Everybody’s very respectful… apples and oranges, completely different.”

The WWE alumni shocked the industry when he was cast in Marvel’s action adventure, as many people viewed him as a nothing more than a fighter. However, like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson did before him, Dave proved there’s more to him than muscle. He’s hoping the reception to his turn in 007 is just as positive.

“That’s what I’m afraid of,” he sighed when asked if he thought he’d done the part justice. “That’s one of those questions you can’t really answer… I’m waiting to hear the feedback.

“With Guardians of the Galaxy, I got a lot of people who didn’t want me to have the part before we filmed and after the film was released, the guys were behind me and they supported me. I even had a few apologies, they were sorry. I hope this will be the same thing because I don’t want to be the guy that’s messing up James Bond. I hope they’ll be happy.”
