The production of Deadpool 2 has been shut down ‘indefinitely’ following the tragic death of a stunt performer earlier this week.
Joi ‘SJ’ Harris was killed when the motorcycle she was on crashed through a plate-glass window on location. It was her first film as a stunt performer, and she was doubling the character of Domino in the movie. The stunt had reportedly been extensively rehearsed.
A police investigation continues.
Director David Leitch gave a statement to Deadline which read: “I’m deeply saddened by the loss of one of our stunt performers today. No words can express how I and the rest of the Deadpool 2 crew feel about this tragedy. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones in this difficult time”.
