Filmed at a time when 3D was the next big thing, Hitchcock set to work using this new medium for Dial M For Murder. Based on a hit broadway play, production was completed in 1953. However, the film was unable to be released until the play completed its run by which time, in 1954, 3D had gone out of fashion. Most original audiences only saw the 2D version.
