Diane Lane describes Zack Snyder as a “force of nature”, as she’d never be able to handle his workload.
The Oscar-nominated actress has a busy schedule at the moment, promoting new film Trumbo and preparing for the release of Man of Steel sequel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Director Zack returns to helm the second movie, with Diane back in the shoes of Superman’s earth mother Martha Kent and thrilled to have reunited with the filmmaker.
“I’m endlessly impressed with his imagination,” she gushed to Total Film magazine. “Who gets offered the opportunity to bring such things to the screen for millions of people? That’s tremendous. It’s an honour and a burden and I can’t imagine shouldering that load. He also has a whole bunch of children – he’s a force of nature. He’s got his plate full and he likes it that way.”
Diane has one daughter, Eleanor, in real life, from her previous marriage to Christopher Lambert, so enjoyed having hero Superman as a son in both Man of Steel and the upcoming feature. She’d always told herself that if she had a son, it would be the ultimate test as she thinks raising a good man is a “noble” achievement.
Ahead of the release of Batman v Superman, Diane is enjoying the success of Trumbo. Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston takes on the role of late screenwriter Dalton Trumbo and the actress was bowled over while acting opposite him as his onscreen wife, Cleo.
“Oh yes. He’s so seasoned and has so much to offer,” she gushed of Bryan. “After Breaking Bad, you want to see what he’ll follow that up with. He’s very astute and he’s very full of heart at the same time.”
