DiCaprio & Scorsese team up again

Here’s news of another role for Leonardo DiCaprio. The star of Gangs Of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, and The Wolf Of Wall Street, all of which he made with director Martin Scorsese, will be teaming again with the legendary director. DiCaprio will star as Theodore ‘Teddy’ Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States, in the biopic Roosevelt.

The screenplay was written by Scott Bloom. The movie is being produced by Paramount Pictures, along with DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson through their Appian Way banner, and Scorsese and Emma Koskoff through Sikelia, with Chuck Pacheco.

Roosevelt was president of the US from 1901 to 1909. The 42-year old vice president took office after the assassination of President William McKinley, becoming the youngest president in American history.

Former New York Governor Roosevelt was a Navy veteran. His naval battle strategies are still studied in the U.S. military. During his presidency, he pushed a ‘Square Deal’ domestic policy. He also practically invented environmental protection, declaring national parks and forests off-limits to development. The Republican president also began construction on the Panama Canal.

DiCaprio and Scorsese are currently also developing adaptations of the books The Devil In The White City and Killers Of The Flower Moon.

DiCaprio won the best acting Oscar for 2015’s The Revenant. He is next set to star in the mob movie The Black Hand, which is also being produced by Paramount.
