Actress Elizabeth Banks has assured fans they can “sleep well” in the knowledge that Jennifer Lawrence will impress in the last Hunger Games movie.
Jennifer has played heroine Katniss Everdeen since the first instalment of the franchise in 2012 and her role will come to an end in this year’s (15) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2. Elizabeth will also be waving farewell to her part of larger-than-life Games co-ordinator Effie Trinket. However she promises the cast won’t be going out without a bang.
“Everyone will be sad because you will want more. It will be hard when it finally fizzles out and we know we won’t see each other anymore,” she told Britain’s Metro newspaper. “You can sleep well, [Jennifer’s] everything you hope and want her to be.”
As well as her successful stint in the dystopian flicks, Elizabeth has established herself as a fully-fledged director. She helmed and appeared in 2015’s Pitch Perfect 2 after starring in the original three years ago as Gail.
A third a cappella feature is confirmed to be in the pipeline, but Elizabeth is keeping her lips sealed on details.
“I don’t want to give away any ideas because everything could change,” she smiled. “We don’t start shooting for about eight months. There is a lot between now and then.”
Luckily she didn’t struggle with directing and enjoyed the challenge of being behind the camera. Having first burst onto the acting scene in the late ’90s, Elizabeth has a variety of characters under her belt, and no scene is too silly for the star to take on.
“I’ve been beyond that since day one,” she told elle.com when asked if she worries about looking stupid. “In my very first movie I had BBQ sauce all over my face and I was being rejected by Paul Rudd [in Wet Hot American Summer]. I made a lot of commercials that took away some of my dignity. There’s a fearlessness to acting that you have to have. And if you’re afraid or you’re vain or you’re self-conscious, that shows up. Those are not very flattering traits.”
