Sony has confirmed that the planned sequel to the Goosebumps movie is to film this year, ahead of a release in January 2018.
If you’ve not had the pleasure, the original film – starring Jack Black – was a real treat, opting not to specifically adapt any of the books by R L Stine directly. Instead, it turned Stine into the key character, with Black playing the author who finds himself ultimately under attack from his own creations.
Black will reprise the role, with Dylan Minnette, Ryan Lee and Odeya Rush all expected to return too. Darren Lemnke (Turbo) is penning the screenplay again too (although it’s not clear if Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are also back on story duties), with Rob Letterman back in the director’s chair.
The release date that’s been announced is January 26th 2018, and hopefully we won’t see the release date in the UK lagging so far behind this time.
