A new rumour suggests that Warner Bros wants a Harry Potter And The Cursed Child movie trilogy…
J K Rowling has been fairly adamant thus far that the latest Harry Potter-centric venture – Harry Potter And The Cursed Child – will not be a film. Instead, the follow-on to Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows (set nearly two decades later) is a play, and an already best-selling book of Jack Thorne’s script for the play. But, unsurprisingly – given how many copies the book has sold and how difficult it is to get tickets for the play – Warner Bros is now reportedly keen to get a movie version going too.
The New York Daily News is reporting that the studio wants to approach Daniel Radcliffe to reprise the role of Harry Potter in a possible trilogy of films based on Harry Potter And The Cursed Child. This is inevitable speculation, of course, but it would surprise us not a jot in this case if there was something to it.
Still, in this case, what Warner Bros wants isn’t necessarily what Warner Bros will get.
The keys to this happening lie more with J K Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe than the studio, after all. Warner Bros currently has its Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them trilogy of movies set in the Harry Potter universe (and penned by J K Rowling), with the first movie due in November. Radcliffe, meanwhile, has previously distanced himself from a return to his most famous role.
