Room star Jacob Tremblay never wants his face on a yoghurt after Oscar Isaac told him how creepy it is.
The nine-year-old actor is currently the toast of Hollywood thanks to his role in Room, the story of a woman (Brie Larson) who is kidnapped and then gives birth to her captor’s child. Jacob is hotly-tipped to receive an Oscar nomination when they are announced on Thursday (14Jan16), and he’s already been touring to promote the flick. Thanks to this he’s met some of his idols, including Oscar – who appears in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
“Yeah, that was fun,” Jacob told US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. “I showed him a lightsaber because I had it behind my back; I pulled it out and turned it on. And then he was like, ‘This is super cool.’ We did talk about some cool stuff, like what was it like working on Star Wars, and actually I did ask him how creepy would it be to see yourself as an action figure on the toy’s face? He said, ‘That was cool but you know what was really creepy? Being on pillows, sheets and blankets and yoghurt.’ Eating yoghurt out of the face! I do have a delicious face but (I don’t know if I want to be on yoghurt).”
With so much awards buzz around Room, Jacob has got used to attending glitzy events. He was at the Golden Globes on Sunday (10Jan16) and can’t understand why anyone might think such ceremonies are tedious.
“Boring? I don’t think they’re boring at all! It’s like the biggest thing in the world!” he marvelled. “I was in the audience and guess what happened? Brie won an award!”
Brie received the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama prize and is also expected to pick up an Academy Award nomination this week (beg11Jan16). While the idea of being lauded by critics is exciting to Jacob, he doesn’t expect to receive a nod.
“I don’t think I might because there are lots of good actors like Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant,” he explained.
