Now this is the kind of casting news we can get behind. It’s been revealed that Jeff Goldblum is to return to the Jurassic Park franchise, in the upcoming Jurassic World 2.
He’ll be reprising the role of Dr Ian Malcolm, last seen in The Lost World: Jurassic Park, although the character has been referenced in subsequent films. How big a role Goldblum will get in the currently-shooting sequel remains to be seen. But heck, it’s good to have him back already.
He’ll join a cast that includes Chris Pratt. And Pratt has been updating his Instagram frequently with some videos shot in his trailer, where he’s been documenting the mother of all diets he’s on to stay in shape. And because it’s Pratt, we weren’t going to get the typically upbeat, feel-the-burn, clean-livin’, namaste schtick you’d normally expect to see. No, Chris Pratt is all of us on a diet, and it’s hard not to empathise with the guy.
The actor has been painfully honest about his struggle to stay healthy in the past, telling ScreenerTV that, hey, “six months flies by whether you’re working out every day or whether you’re not, so if you feel compelled to do something about it, take some action and get in shape, do it. You can do it. You could. You really could. You could do it in six months and all you have to do is just book a Marvel movie and have a deadline that’s like, ‘If you don’t [lose weight] then you might get fired,’ and then it’s easy.”
It’s been confirmed that this time around, the UK will be getting the film first. Universal has revealed that Jurassic World 2 will be in UK cinemas on June 8th 2018 – two weeks ahead of the US release.
