Kurt Russell Guardians role revealed

Who is Kurt Russell is playing in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2? Find out here…

If you want to go into Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 completely blind, you may want to look away now.

So, are you ready for some absolutely bonkers Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 news? We already know that Kurt Russell was in the movie, playing Peter Quill’s father. That’s been floating around since at least December.

But in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, we got something really out there. Yes, Kurt Russell is Peter Quill’s Dad. Who is that? Ego.

What the hell’s Ego?

Well, in the comics, he’s Ego The Living Planet (created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby). Which is… exactly what it sounds like. But since Ego isn’t yet a “planet” in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 (and that would have made copulation with Peter’s Mom kinda difficult anyway), we might kinda/sorta get to see some kind of Ego origin story in this one. After all, what could be more heartbreaking than for Peter to find his Dad only to lose him…as he becomes a freakin’ sentient planet, right?

Mr Russell, of course, fits perfectly with the nostalgia-fueled aesthetic of the Guardians Of The Galaxy franchise. His 80s genre resume only begins with classics like The Thing or Escape From New York, and it’s easy to see how the spiritual successor of one of those macho roles would make perfect DNA for someone who flies around the galaxy calling himself Star-Lord.

To cap it all, Marvel’s Ryan Penagos shared a video of Russell’s Ego outfit from Comic-Con over the weekend:

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will be released on 28th April 28th 2017 in the UK, and May 5th 2017 in the USA.
