Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth instalment of George Miller’s Mad Max franchise – the first in almost 30 years – due for worldwide release in May 2015. The last starred Mel Gibson and obtained its very own Guinness World Record for most profitable film in Australia in 1979. Who knew?! The film was filmed in Namibia during 2012 with additional scenes shot after wrap in November 2013 with director George Miller describing the film as “a very simple allegory, almost a western on wheels”

As with previous releases Fury Road is co-written and directed by Miller and is set in the post-apocalyptic dystopian landscape of ‘is set in the furthest outskirts of Australia (what is left of it) a desolate desert like world where humanity has finally pushed itself to the precipice of annihilation and the remnants of our race find themselves fighting for the necessities of life to survive the wasteland they inhabit. Max Rockantansky (Hardy) is a rebel, a loner, who after losing his wife and child in the aftermath decides the only possible way to survive is solitary living from day to day. Unbeknown to him, Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) is of similar mind set and is desperately trying to return to her home in order to survive. She heads a group fleeting across the dusty wasteland in a ‘war rig’ and despite all of his efforts Max gets caught up in their attempt to escape warlord ‘Immortan Joe’ and taken along for the ride. Together, amidst the blood, fire, rage and fast paced, non-stop action, could they be the answer to restoring order to the chaos engulfing humanity’s existence at a rapid pace?

Producer credits are shared between; Doug Mitchell (Mad Max/Happy Feet) George Miller and P.J. Voeten . Directed by George Miller. Written by George Miller, Brendan McCarthy, and Nico Lathouris. Released via Warner Bros Studios.
