The Magnificent Seven

Ethan Hawke

Ethan Hawke is heading for  the Wild West for his next project. Variety reports that the actor is in the final stages of locking down a part in MGM’s The Magnificent Seven remake.

Should the deal go through, Hawke will be reunited with his Training Day cohorts, director Antoine Fuqua and co-star Denzel Washington, who have both already committed to the movie.

He’ll also join two recent additions to the cast; Jurassic World’s Chris Pratt and The Equalizer’s Haley Bennett.

The film is touted as a remake of John Sturges’ 1960 seminal western that starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson – itself an Americanised reworking of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai.

With a first draft penned by True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto, and a second version currently in the works from John Lee Hancock, The Magnificent Seven is shaping up to be a hot property indeed.
