Ridley Scott’s The Martian looks set to swell its growing ensemble with a host of new cast members, with Jeff Daniels reportedly the closest name to signing on the dotted line.
According to THR, the star is currently in talks to appear alongside Matt Damon in the film, which will focus on an astronaut stranded on a Martian colony.
The film will tell the story of Damon’s attempts to survive in such hostile conditions, while back on Earth, his colleagues set about attempting to mount a rescue mission.
In addition to Daniels, both Jessica Chastain and Kate Mara are said to be in early negotiations to join the project, while Kristen Wiig has also been linked.
Scott only came on board the film after original director Drew Goddard stepped down, although he will still be shooting from Goddard’s script. The Martian will open in the UK on 27 November 2015.
