The mockumentary is a specific sub-genre of film, most typically in comedy form.  Presented as the genuine, factual article, we experience interviews and fly-on-the-wall footage that may be convincing, were it not for the preposterous nature of the participants and events witnessed on screen.

As New Zealand mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows hits our screens, a tale of three vampire flatmates in modern-day Wellington, from Flight Of The Concords’ Jemaine Clement, and Taika Waitit, we look back on some favourite examples from film and television.
