The Video On-demand Film Explosion
Since Showfilmfirst started, back in 2003, the way films are distributed – and the amount available – has exploded. We’ve gone from video to DVD to online – watching films on our desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, smart TVs – via gaming devices, TV boxes, sticks. You can watch Sky movies for a tenner a month via the NowTV Box, and there are so many on-demand subscription channels with access to thousands of titles for a small monthly fee that the choice is overwhelming! In fact, you can spend so much time flicking through what’s on these channels than you do watching them!
All this, and yet cinema ticket sales are booming. It all goes to show what we’ve always known – that you just can’t get enough films.
Here, at Showfilmfirst, we’re massive film fans too. We love being able to offer our members the chance to see the latest titles for free, and to get you talking about them. But we know there’s a vast online world of titles out there too, so this is our new page, which highlights what’s new to on-demand plus some hidden gems we think are worth a look.
