Paul Bettany On Shelter

British-born actor Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind, Master & Commander, Avengers: Age of Ultron) has turned his hand to writing & directing with Shelter, an unsparing story of loss, love, sacrifice, redemption and, ultimately, hope.  A love letter to the great New York dramas of the 1970s and, according to Bettany, “for all people who for whatever reason slip by the wayside”, the film stars Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind, Requiem for a Dream, Once Upon a Time in America) –  Bettany’s real-life wife – and Anthony Mackie (Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Fifth Estate, The Hurt Locker) as Hannah and Tahir, two people who come from two different worlds. But when their lives intersect, they’re at the same place: homeless on the streets of New York.  Here, Bettany talks about where the idea for the film came from and why he feels so passionate about it.
