No post-credit scene for Star Wars: The Force Awakens

At this point, any Marvel fan worth their salt knows that it pays to stay in your seat after the credits roll on their latest superhero film. Since Samuel L. Jackson’s eye-patched Nick Fury appeared at the end of 2008’s Iron Man, the studio has become famous for its post-credit scenes. According to The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams however, Star Wars will not be following suit.

At the Los Angeles press conference for the film last Sunday, the director was asked if we could expect any surprises after the credits for the film. The answer was short and to the point: “No. All of the scenes are actually in the movie.” Whether that will hold true for future Star Wars films remains to be seen, but unless you want to acknowledge all the people who worked on The Force Awakens – an admirable endeavour, it should be noted – there’s little point in staying in your seat once the credits begin this time round.

Directed by Abrams and starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released in UK cinemas on December 17 2015 before opening in US theatres a day later.
