Filming continues in Canada on The Predator, which sees Shane Black directing the latest chapter in the franchise. He’s promised us an R-rated movie too, one that was originally set to land in cinemas next February.
However, 20th Century Fox had a release date shuffle over the weekend, and part and parcel of that was a delay to The Predator, moving it to a summer slot. The film now has a US release date of August 3rd 2018, and we expect the UK date to reflect that too.
In terms of other recent news surrounding the film, there’s the fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger turned down a part.
Chatting with Yahoo Movies, Arnie revealed that “they asked me, and I read it, and I didn’t like it – whatever they offered”. According to AvP Galaxy, the screenplay draft they’d seen had a small role near the end for Schwarzenegger’s original character, Dutch. And the suggestion was that it was more a little cameo that The Predator team had in mind.
“I’m not going to do that, no”, Schwarzenegger added. “Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’t do that”.
