Season Launch Invitation

Thursday 6 September: 6pm – 7.30pm

Love Music Hate Racism Exhibition Private View

Featuring Jerry Dammers and Pandit G DJ sets

RSVP: jessica.loveless@richmix.org.uk

Join us as we celebrate the launch of our Autumn 2012 Season with a special collaboration with Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR). We join forces with LMHR in September with a series of events celebrating their 10th Anniversary. LMHR will take over Rich Mix’s mezzanine gallery from Thursday 6 to Sunday 30 September 2012 to host a unique exhibition of iconic posters and memorabilia from the late 1970s to today. This artwork shows a time when radical music fused with a full on message to create a powerful movement.

Rich Mix is lucky to be based in the most diverse and exciting corner of London. Our autumn season of 150 events runs from September to December and aims to celebrate this place: a place that people of all backgrounds call home and an area overflowing with colour, culture and creativity.

This season we will take part in two major film festivals including The 56th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express and Film Africa 2012: Celebrating African Cinema, as well as hosting a day of documentaries and discussion focusing on Latin America with our ongoing documentary partner DocHouse.

On Saturday 22 September, DocHouse presents ‘RESISTENCIA: Focus on Latin America’, a journey across Latin America today, through revealing documentaries and illuminating discussion. The day offers a panoramic view across Latin America today, from life at the Mexican border, through the Peruvian jungle, and all the way to the streets of Rio. Highlights include the UK Premiere of One Frontier, All Frontiers, which contemplates life on either side of the 2,000 mile wall that separates Mexico from the USA. The UK Premiere of Stolen Land about the Nasa people of southern Colombia and their fighting to reclaim their ancestral land. Plus the London Premiere of Law of The Jungle which follows the story of a young indigenous leader and his lawyer as they fight the government and PlusPetrol for his rights and his freedom.
