SAG Winners

Eddie Redmayne accepts his SAG Award at the 2015 ceremony

The juggernaut that is the awards season continued last night, 25th January, with the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.  This is an important fixture in the calender as it’s considered a reliable indicator for who will go on to take the Oscars, with three out of the past four years seeing all four winners in the acting categories go on to win the Academy Award, which is good news for Eddie Redmayne, Julianne Moore, J.K. Simmons & Patricia Arquette.

Television proved once again it was no longer the poor relation, with Kevin Spacey, Viola Davis, William H. Macy, Mark Ruffalo & Frances McDormand winning awards. The cast of the UK’s Downtown Abbey took best Drama ensemble, while the TV series Orange Is The New Black was another big winner.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to actress Debbie Reynolds by her daughter – Princess Leia herself – Carrie Fisher.
