Sam Mendes reaffirms his exit

With Daniel Craig rumoured to be quitting 007, Sam Mendes confirms he won’t be back to direct James Bond 25…

All pointers right now seem to be suggesting there will be some significant personnel changes ahead of the next James Bond film. Rumours continue to swirl that Daniel Craig’s time as 007 is over, and that Tom Hiddleston is the running favourite to take over.Whilst we wait to see just how all that plays out, there’s one person who definitely won’t be back for James Bond 25, and that’s director Sam Mendes.Mendes has helmed the last two Bond movies, Skyfall and Spectre. And in interviews following both, he’d strongly suggested he was done with the series. This time, though, it seems he’s bolted the door on a possible Bond return. “It was an incredible adventure”, he said at the Hay Festival Of Literature over the past few days. “I loved every second of it. But think it’s time for somebody else”.

Considering we’ve had no shortage of 007 casting rumours these past few months, it’s surprising that no name has yet been thrown into the frame as a potential director.
