Christoph Waltz insists he isn’t playing Blofeld.
Ever since it was announced that Christoph Waltz would be on villain duties in SPECTRE, the rumour mill has been abuzz with chatter that he will be playing Blofeld. However, Waltz continues to insist that is not the case, dismissing the rumour as wild speculation.
“That is absolutely untrue.” said Waltz during a recent interview with GQ. “That rumour started on the internet, and the internet is a pest. The name of my character is Franz Oberhauser.”
Indeed it is, officially speaking, but we’re still not convinced by Waltz’s denials. It all sounds a little too similar to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Star Trek identity to us. In any case, Waltz is suitably excited about the project, hyping up the quality of both the action and the writing…
“The thing about SPECTRE is that it is not the work of hack writers,” says Waltz. “It does not have a hack director. The actors are not hams. The action sequences in Mexico are extravagant to say the least. The scenes in Austria are traditional Bond action in the snow. These films with Daniel Craig have shifted the tone. They don’t depend on a set formula that forces actors simply to go through the motions.”
Directed by Sam Mendes and co-starring Daniel Craig, Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux, SPECTRE will open in the UK on 23 October 2015 and the US on 6 November 2015.
