UK Film Distributors announce STATE OF THE ART CINEMA, a new exhibition of film posters and images for Summer 2013. Presented by the Film Distributor’s Association (FDA), this is a free public exhibition offering a contemporary snapshot of the art of film poster design.
The colourful, stylish exhibition will comprise over fifty artworks and images showcasing the diverse range of films for UK cinema release throughout summer 2013. Occupying approximately 3000 square feet, State of the Art Cinema will premiere at the Getty Images Gallery in Eastcastle Street, central London, from Monday 3 to Sunday 9 June. A programme of special events, talks and workshops will take place during the week, including a seminar for graphic design students and a children’s animation workshop.
Touring to other galleries – including Hoxton Arches, east London – during the summer, State of the Art Cinema will be displayed in six broad themes: Heroes and Superheroes; Britain On Screen; Comedy; Dramatic Twists and Turns; Suspense; and Family Animation. Aiming to engage the general public as well as film lovers, FDA will publish a free visitors’ guide to accompany the exhibition, incorporating a competition to win cinema tickets and interactive links to all the film trailers.
Among the leading directors whose latest film campaigns are showcased in the exhibition are Sofia Coppola, Ron Howard, Neil Jordan, Baz Luhrmann, Guillermo del Toro, Edgar Wright, and dozens of others.
There will be specific workshops and presentations which ShowFilmFirst will have tickets for – more details of those coming shortly.
