He may have dropped out of Suicide Squad, but Tom Hardy may still be returning to the world of DC…
Tom Hardy has a slightly mixed history with DC Comics-based movies already. He took on the role of Bane in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises of course, but then, earlier this year, a scheduling conflict led to him dropping out of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film.
Suicide Squad is due for release in August 2016, with Joel Kinnaman taking on the role that Hardy was earmarked for. Yet it seems that there’s another DC property that the actor is working on, for DC and Warner Bros.
In his words, “I actually got something cooking with Warner Bros, which is also a comic book, it’s a DC thing”.
Details? Not too many, but Hardy – who was chatting to Collider – did drop a few hints.
“It’s really good actually, it contains elements of all kinds of stuff. From Ocean’s Eleven, to Batman, you can get all the wrappers out and it would be a big, really cool, Technicolor, Pulp Fiction…It’s a psychological fuckfest, it’s absolutely awesome”.
He added that “it’s as if you would take Transmetropolitan and make it happen, but it’s not that out there it’s something which is much more real world. It could be like Heat, it could be fucking awesome. Let me tell you what it is, try and guess”.
He’s certainly dropping enough names there.
Further hints? It’s not one of the DC movies scheduled between now and 2020 it seems, with Hardy saying “it’s not even a movie… it’s real estate, it’s prime real estate which is sitting there right under everybody’s nose that no one’s really thought about yet, and it goes TV and movie”. TV and movie, in the same way that Stephen King’s The Dark Tower is being adapted, perhaps?
