Tommy Flanagan joins Guardians Of The Galaxy

Sons Of Anarchy’s Tommy Flanagan joins Chris Pratt and co. in the cast of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2…

As well as bringing back Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, writer-director James Gunn is also adding new names to the roster for his spacefaring sequel Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2. He’s already brought in Pom Klementieff and Kurt Russell, and now he’s added another name to the mix – Tommy Flanagan.

Mr Flanagan is perhaps best known for playing Filip ‘Chibs’ Telford over 92 episodes of Sons Of Anarchy. Over the years he’s also popped up in Gotham, Peaky Blinders, Sin City, Gladiator, Braveheart, Alien Vs. Predator and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Flanagan will play “one of [Michael Rooker’s] Yondu’s ravagers who has a bounty on Rocket Racoon”, who will therefore “will come into conflict with our oddball band of heroes”. This sounds like it could either be an overarching narrative thread throughout the film or a fun little opening number. Time will tell.

At the moment, we’ve only got this very brief synopsis to work from:

Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.

The film reaches UK screens on 28th April 2017.
