Vin Diesel’s plans to adapt classic detective saga Kojak into a feature film appear to be gathering pace, with Variety reporting that the project has found itself a screenwriter in the form of Philip Gawthorne.
A first draft had previously been pulled together by Skyfall’s Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, but now playwright Gawthorne will put his own spin on proceedings. For those unfamiliar with the show, Kojak was a tough cop with a liking for lollypops and the catchphrase, “who loves ya, baby?”
No word as yet regarding plot details, but we do know that Diesel will be taking on the title role, and that he bears a passing resemblance to original star Telly Savalas. And really, what more can you ask for than that?
