Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman has officially found its director, with Variety confirming that hot favourite Michelle MacLaren has been given the position.

It had previously been reported that MacLaren was in negotiations with Warner over the forthcoming project, but a deal has now been struck, and her appointment has been made official.

MacLaren reportedly beat out competition from Jennifer Kent and Lesli Linka Glatter, while Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven will produce the film.

No plot details have been confirmed as yet, but the film is said to be set in 1920’s America, where Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman struggles to adapt to a patriarchical society in which women are very much the subordinate sex.

The film is thought to likely be the first in a trilogy, although Gadot will make her first appearance in a supporting capacity in Batman v Superman when that film lands in 2016.

Wonder Woman
will open in the US on 23 June 2017, with a UK release date still to be confirmed.
