X-Men: Apocalypse

Chloe Grace Moretz and Timothee Chalamet Considered For X-Men: Apocalypse.

Report by Sarah Jayne Alexander.

Rumours are circulating today after it was announced Fox are looking to re-cast two of the main X-men Characters-Jean Grey and Scott Summers for the X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016. The studio, who own the Marvel franchise, are planning on introducing fans to younger versions of the couple who will then star alongside X-Men: Days Of Future Past favourites Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult. The film will have new blood pumped into it with even more mutants set to appear following 2014’s X-Men DOFP in which we saw Quicksilver (played by Evan Peters) making his debut.

Chloe Grace Moretz is reportedly the studios first choice for Jean Grey (previously played by Famke Janssen) but Elle Fanning and Hailee Steinfeld are also up for the part. Two of three have already met with Director Bryan Singer and whoever is signed up will depend on their availability to not only star in X-Men: Apocalypse but will have to be committed to reprising the role over unannounced future films. Moretz who is currently filming The Fifth Wave in Atlanta and starred in this year’s festival favourite The Equalizer with Co-Star Denzel Washington, would need to consider what it would mean for her ever increasing schedule.

As for Scott Summers (Cyclops) we are hearing that the Fox studio may decide on a newcomer with Timothée Chalamet (Interstellar) Ben Hardy (EastEnders) and Charlie Rowe (Red Band Society) all said to be under consideration and with big sunglasses to fill! Cyclops-previously played by James Marsden- is one of Professor X’s Main X-Men and will more than likely feature heavily in Apocalypse and future films.

Returning as Director, Singer is also looking to cast the villainous role of Apocalypse – a very old mutant who brings about destruction to everyone and everything in his path. It was previously in the year it was reported that The Dark Knight’s Tom Hardy might be up for the role but it is now confirmed he is instead in talks to star in Suicide Squad – another DC release – and his filming schedule would conflict with Apocalypse.

X-Men: Apocalypse will open in the UK on 19 May 2016.
